Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (a so-called hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to verify that you are using it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to a website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Website visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may agree to have your name, email address and website saved in cookies. This is done for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your information again when you leave another comment. These cookies are stored for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.
When you log in, we also set several cookies to save your registration information and screen settings. The login cookies are stored for two days and the screen settings cookies are stored for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login information will be stored for two weeks. If you log out of your account, your login cookies will be deleted.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply indicates the publication ID of the article you just edited. It expires in 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may contain embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and track your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you send a password reset request, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we keep your data
If you leave a comment, it and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This is so that we can automatically recognize and approve any subsequent comments instead of keeping them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our site (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except that they cannot change their username). Site administrators can also see and edit this information.
What rights you have to your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you may request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You may also request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. This does not apply to data that we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
Where your data is sent to
Visitors’ comments can be checked by an automated spam detection service.
